Addicting 05:11
Did I make you laugh? Talking in circles You had me when hello fell from your mouth Should I say something else I'm beside myself And I do appreciate you coming 'round But you're so addicting A waste of my energy And you leave me alone just like you said you would Did I make you cry? Speaking non-fiction The truth hurts when you feel it coming out Did I say something wrong? Can't we get along? I've taken it as far as I'm allowed But you're so addicting A waste of my energy And you make me feel just like I know you do It's so impressive How far that it gets me And you leave me alone just like you said you would Did I make you laugh? Talking in circles Now I wonder how I ever had a doubt Did I misread my line? What's your alibi? To think you claimed you had it figured out But you're so addicting A waste of my energy And you make me feel just like I know you do It's so impressive How far that shit gets me And you leave me alone just like you said you would

By Numbers 02:54
Hold a conversation with whomever you want It's okay; I can live with that I guess, if I must How can you still wonder exactly what it's about? If you don't understand, why don't you figure it out? Why do you recite your troubled life? Why you gotta make the fool of I? Why you always take what love won't buy Up until you break right down and cry? How can you still ask exactly what it's about? If I don't disagree, why don't you figure it out? Open invitation to the devils that haunt C'est la vie, you and me Together we bite the dust Still the question surrounds us What is it about? If I can't make you see, why don't you figure it out? Why do you discard my troubled mind? Breakaway and tear up both our lives Why you gotta machinate and fight? You're old enough to know your wrong from right How can you still ask exactly what it's about? If I don't disagree, why don't you figure it out?

I had another one of my dreams Now, I'm afraid of falling asleep It's terrible and frightening Just to think you'd forget about me Fearless as a loaded gun Endless as the war craze Useless as a better day You're almost laughable Where's your logic and self-control? Did you sell them along with your soul? As numerous as lies can be It's more impressive that you believe 'Cause you're fearless as a loaded gun Endless as the war craze Useless as a better day You're almost laughable

Unreal 06:56
The heart's not one to be outdone Especially when it's having fun It's irresponsible When bloodflow doesn't interest it enough It conquers wit, but frightens love It's unstoppable Can't say how much it would mean to me If I could pull it right out of me But it's impossible When I had just begun my plan To try and get the upper hand I found an obstacle I plowed the earth, I stomped the ground But there was just no way around It seemed impassable I screamed out, "god, will you please help me?" And I was blessed with a great disease Ain't it illogical? My body's broke and my mind is sore And I just keep coming back for more Then there you were Barely recognizable Not even describable But there you were The way I feel Hardly disguisable Don't you realize it, girl? The way I feel You're so unreal Don't need no one to watch my back Keep to myself and counteract The historical Wind up with eight good women yielding To pain with strength while childbearing In the hospital And it's all good while the fun is new But soon it turns its fat ass on you You're in the obstacle Can't figure out where you might have ran You didn't think I would understand Then there you were Barely recognizable Wholly inspirable But there you were The way I feel Hardly disguisable Don't you realize it, girl? The way I feel Don't you think we'd be good for each other? Don't you think we'd be good for each other? I'm gonna hope it's what I think it is I'm gonna hope it's what I think it is Don't you think we'd be good for each other? Don't you think we'd be good for each other? I'm gonna hope it's what I think it is I'm gonna hope it's what I think it is Mom'll wash your mouth out with that soap if you don't like it And with my luck It'll take forever, I know because I'm gonna wait until it does Then there you were Barely recognizable Not even describable But there you were The way I feel Hardly disguisable Don't you realize it, girl? The way I feel Then there you were Barely recognizable Wholly inspirable Yeah, there you were The way I feel Hardly disguisable Don't you realize it, girl? The way I feel You're so unreal

Movies 05:35
The more I think about it, I convince myself to never fall in love again And I've apologized for all you went through, whatever situation I put you in We could have had a lot of good times, you and I together It's sad we had to bring it to an end But I can tell from your recognition that I'll never be your friend So this is it, commitment You're just glued to the screen for hours This is it, so intricate Sit and watch, there's no tomorrow This is it, to come and get To entertain you and keep your mouth shut This is it, this is it Now I'm living off the taste of your lips Can't dissipate the scent of your kiss Why can't all movies end like this? It's so wrong I'm not chasing after you You'll unravel as the drama ensues No sense in pushing it on you Here's your song The more I think about it I convince myself that women tend to mistreat men It's not assumption, man, I've got my evidence And proving it's as easy as watching it When will the plot stop twisting? Come on, surprise ending The hero has no damsel to defend And I can tell from your sad reaction, You know it's true, you just pretend Pretend So this is it, commitment You're just glued to the screen for hours This is it, so intricate Sit and watch, there's no tomorrow This is it, to come and get To entertain you and keep your mouth shut This is it, this is it Now I'm living off the taste of your lips Can't dissipate the scent of your kiss Why can't all movies end like this? It's so wrong I'm not chasing after you You'll unravel as the drama ensues No sense in pushing it on you Here's your song Here's your song

Well, I'm just a secret that no one believes No one cares anything 'bout me My luck is worth nothing, nothing at all Pull it back and tear it off Why do I identify with silhouettes of talk show hosts? The war inside your feeble mind reminds me of the holy ghost And every time I breathe, I want you even more And I so wish that you could see the damage that I bring A crutch for the obscene Selfish Like nicotine When you're sick, I'm crying; crying for more My love isn't worth dying for What's worth is worth noting for future mistakes You let it happen to yourself Why does something come to mind about your life and getting old? And cashing in your last paycheck Regardless of what's bought and sold Every time I breathe, I want you even more And I so wish that you could see the damage that I bring "You belong to me," is all that I can say A paralyzing thing Selfish Like nicotine

Pass Me By 04:26
No one knows, no one knows, no one knows No one knows, no one knows just how it ends It keeps coming apart Tell your friends, tell your friends, tell your friends Tell your friends, tell your friends what's happening Though there's no way to stop And it gets you up in arms It's too late to sound an alarm So many times It's becoming a part Some days come to truly unhappy ends, and I know why You don't know, you don't know, you don't know You don't know, you don't know what satisfies me No matter what you're taught And it keeps you on your knees When you think it sets you free Why couldn't you? Is there no way to stop? Some days come to truly unhappy ends, and I know why I think this is about as good as it's gonna get, so pass me by

Antiquities 04:26
Went to give you something special When you turned the other way Could you be any less respectable? Could you push me then run away? Could you? Couldn't you? Could you? Couldn't you? I can't tell what I'm supposed to do When everything I'm thinking of is you Could've you pushed me then ran away? Could've you found the right words to say? Could've you certainly made my day? At least for a while

about

Don’t ever name an album DEAD IN THE WATER.

After the release of Soultech’s A DROP IN THE OCEAN, the live band and I immediately began work on a follow-up. Daniel Grisham (live keyboardist) and I were roommates at the time, and between practice sessions, he came up with an awesome saw synth pattern. I hit Fruity Waves MD in Absynth 2, and off we went. The song was “Addicting”, in name and in playability.

We weren’t initially intending to record another album so soon, but there we were. And soon, I was working on new material in every moment I could spare. By Spring of 2008, Bradley Spurgeon (keyboardist) and I were each writing music at home. We were sending clips to each other, editing them, adding to them. “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Moon” came out of those remote sessions.

Unfortunately, as things often go with bands, we had internal disagreements. We didn’t “break up” so much as we dissolved. I let one member of the band go, in a moment of anger. Another just quit showing up to practice, ostensibly in support of the other. Still, we attempted to continue as a three-piece.

But shows weren’t exactly lining up, and we were at loggerheads over production issues on the album. Soon, phone calls weren’t being answered, plans were being delayed, and we just… kind of stopped talking to one another.

However, what’s done is done, and the past is now in the rear view mirror. I’ve taken the master tracks from the best of the sessions and re-mixed them from scratch. Just as what’s done is done, what’s old is now also new. It’s eight tracks of electronic experimentation that I hope you enjoy.

And if you don’t? Well, we’re not around anymore to care anyway.
